You don't have to know the myth of Icarus* to love this necklace. Icarus is presented with golden wings in a thinking posture in this piece of wearable art.
"Let us see how high we can fly before the sun melts the wax in our wings."
E. O. Wilson
*In Greek mythology, Icarus was the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, the creator of the Labyrinth that housed the Minotaur in Crete. Father and son attempt to escape from the island using the wings that Daedalus constructed from feathers and wax. Icarus though disregarded his father and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax to melt. He lost his wings and fell in the sea close to the island of Ikaria that was named after him.
